454 tbi

i have a old suburban that im aquired and im going to cut my losses and get rid of. im thinking of pulling the motor and sell it. it is a 454 with a tbi unit on it. im thinking about puting the tbi on my camaro. it seams like people are kinda looking for these units and i figure if it helps out and i got one why not put it on. i searched the arcives about doing the swap. but the question i have is my motor is 100% stock. would it be over kill to put the 454 unit on a stock motor or should i wait to do a few mods. to the motor and then put it on. or can i swap the 305 injectors on the 454 tbi? and go from there????? any help would be appreciated. thanks guys.

for a stock 305 the 454 tb and injectors woudl be too much. BUT!!!! since you already have teh whoel motor maybe you shoudl jsut throw the 454 into teh f-body taht motor would really hustle in a camaro, my friends stock 454ss truck weighing in at 4470 lbs ran a 15.4 in cool weather(like mid 60's). that woudl be a nice mover in a car that weighs 1000lbs less

well the motor needs to be rebult. it has really bad knock in it. and i lice in the west burbs of chicago. where i have to pass a smog test. i have talked to other people in the area who has done it and its too much of a pain in the *** it to then its worh they tell me. so i would rather sell the 454. becides im not really into drag raceing my car. i would rather race auto-x with it. i think that going around corners really fast is more fun

The 454 TBI would be overkill on a stock 305. But uh, speaking of selling that 454. How much would you be asking with and without the TBI on it?

Why not just buy the Holley pro jection tbi intake with 2" bores, and use the lower half of the 454 TBI with the 305 injectors? Seems if you have any minor mods to the 305 it would benefit from the extra air it would pull in. If you do this add a air/fuel gauge, and make sure the car doesnt run lean.

That sounds pretty good to me too. If your car has the stock snorkel I would think that this could be a good move, talking about air and all.

ok thanks for all the input. and i dont have the stock snorkle on it i have a edelbrock 14x3 open air on top whick in my mind is better. there is really no hp increase with it but it has a better responce when you crack it open.
