Edelbrock TBI to TPI Conversion kit

I am sure many of you have seen the kit Edelbrock sells to convert from TBI to TPI using you stock throttle body, computer, and harness. They only offer applications for the trucks, not the cars, and if you call and ask them, they will tell you the same thing.

Has anyone attempted (or succeeded) setting one up on their TBI F-Body? Or, does anyone know why they will not work on the cars?

the mpfi conversion is a common question. from what most people are saying about it the expense is not really justified.

The truck setups rely on the Thermatic Air Cleaner assembly to maintain a 1/2 decent AFR. The cars while they use TBI add a air temp sensor. Emission wise there is a huge difference. So the truck setup probably isn't close to being CARB approved.

If you were to research the prom changes in what they us for the trucks, and applied that to the cat ecm probably would be half decent.

But, that's alot of money for min gain in my book.

I have an 86 Silverado and I threw out the air cleaner because it just wouldn't fit under the hood with my new Edelbrock 600 carb. I passed emmsions like a new truck (again)....
