91 RS on the cover of Chevy High Perfomance
91 RS on the cover of Chevy High Perfomance
There is a good article about this car in the mag but they left out the most important thing in my opinion, no 1/4mi times or dyno numbers. I think if a lot of us on the tbi board were to e-mail them about the info they left out they may try to do something about it. Couldn't hurt.
Here's their e-mail address--- chevyhi@primedia.com
This is the e-mail I sent them:
This article gives us tbi fans a real hope of affordable performance while keeping the car throttle body injected. The only thing I wish you would have done was to get some perfomance figures. A 1/4mi time or some chassis dyno numbers sure would have put this article OVER the top. Do you think you could talk Garret into letting you borrow his car long enough to run it down the strip or strap it on the dyno?

I think magazines need to try to work with the TBI more often. We've seen Horsepower TV do a horrible job with their TBI powered Firebird convertible and there was a Hot Rod mag around 1990 where they ran 100mph trap times with a 305 TBI. The only other times I've seen TBI in mags is when they change from TBI to MPFI in a CK truck.

yeah, I thought the entire article had pretty poor coverage. I usually pay very little attention to TBI cars but that one caught my attention. Got me thinking about 'em. I don't know much about them but the Edelbrock(?) TBI swap got me thinking. The only ones I could find in Summit cost $900-$1500. Is this the one the car in the magazine had? That sounds like an aweful lot for a TBI upgrade.
I think I reacted a little to hastly, not everybody has had a chance to read the article. I thought I was always the last person to get Chevy High Performance in the mail.
