new cam?
hey, i am looking to put a new cam in my 91 rs. im not sure what kind to buy or how much i will have to spend on it. i went to a performance shop and they suggested one of their aftermarket brands, and the cam was only about 70 bucks. but im not sure if it would be better to do that or if i should get a lt1 cam. and what kind of gains should i expect? let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Sounds like they're recommending a flat tappet camshaft for you. Very common mistake by Speed Shops; they don't know that passenger cars with TBI had roller cams. Make sure you get a 87-95 roller camshaft from a company like Comp or Lunati. The LT1 camshaft is very popular around here, but it's a fairly mild camshaft if you plan on more mods in the future.
