I just put in a rebuilt LO5 and i wanted to know the redline on the stock motors. I've missed second before and it reved to 6000 and it seemed fine. ive done burnouts and realized it was at 6. but i never took it to 6 under load. my engine has my mods listed below.

The redline for power is probably around 5000. As far as the redline for when it starts spitting out parts, thats probably 6500 or maybe 7000. High engine speeds also really stresses the rotating assy. so if you do it repeatedly, stress factures can develop and eventually something will break. Ive had mine up to 6000 before... it survived it w/o any porblems. Its a good idea not to take it up that high, though. Not only is it a waste of time since its not making any power, but its a good way to break valve springs.
