ok, this is what i was thinking about doing, tell me if it is a good idea, or if im just stupid......... This is considering you have a open element and are only going to use this for the track.
1. Get a 3" thick piece of styraform and cut it to match the present air filter. (now you have a foam replica of the air filter)
2. Cut a 2.5" circle on the left and right hand sides of the foam.
3. wrap the foam in aluminum foil or something else that will keep the foam from breaking off and entering the engine. Aluminum might be a bad choice since it is a thermal conductor and might heat up incoming air. So something heat resistant would probably be the best choice.
4. install the foam into the air cleaner housing
5. install 2.5" air duct hoses into the foam and route them somewhere that will allow them to collect incoming cold air, i think im going to remove my brights and mount them there, but im not sure yet.
6. obviously you are now running with no air cleaner, so you might want to put a screen on the end of the hose so that large particles do not enter your engine, my friend told me that i could use panty hose, which i think would be a pretty good idea
Now, let me know what u think, am i stupid, or is this a pretty good idea.

Well if you want it to be kind of crappy looking i guess but i would take a chance with there being no air filter. But heres my idea by a dual intake from ramairbox.com and get a K&N x stream lid and with the dual intake make a scoop that connects to the spoiler or the bumper.

this is just a track idea, something to give you alittle bite more power at the track, just like a cutout. Other than that, i am happy with my open element on the street.
I dont think it would look that crappy depending on where you route the hoses, i think it would look pretty cool.

What about the plastic storage box that holds 4 x 6 index cards from the office supply store? Cut the lid off for the open end, cut your hose size in any other end. Easy to cut plastic, cheap, and usually comes in black as well.
