Stock screw isn't long enough for open element

Hello,

I purchased the generic summit open element air filter, and installed it last night. I was, however, forced to put the lid on upside down because the stock screw wasn't long enough for it to go rightside up. How might I extend the screw so that it can be rightside up?

I do want to be able to put the stock housing back on in the event that I need to -- so only non-perminant solutions please.

Thanks

When I put mine on I had barely any thread coming through the top too, so I just spun the whole threaded bolt counterclockwise and it raised up enough to screw on the wing nut.

My screw wasn't long enough until I took the spacer ring off. Try that. Now the screw is actually a little too long and I have to put some spacers washers between the wingnut and the lid just to get a complete seal.

go to thew autostore ... buy the air cleaner threaded shaft in the spectre aisle. Then put that into your tbi bolt hole.... bend a 90* one way, and then another 90* like the tbi one is. Install air cleaner .... cut away excess thread.
