If you're talking about end seals, theirs something called "The Right Stuff" which was actually engineered specifically for that application. All of the big 3 use the stuff in the factory. The aluminum colored silicone is also for end seals.
That said i've had good luck with basic old black, or blue silicone.

Yeah The Right Stuff is where it's at. I used it on mine when I did the swap and no leaks. Just make sure your not planning on taking it off for a while, tuff to pry back off.
I like the regular old black rtv by permatex, the ultra black is ok but takes alot longer to tack up. The best i have used is the felpro black rtv that comes in thier gasket sets. I have been unable to find it separately. I hear the "right stuff" is good also but i have never used it.
