Installing a new TBI chip but not sure how to

I tried a search and nothing came up.

Can anyone lead me to a thread/page on how to change a chip for ECM #1227747?

I have heard it is a little tricky, and a mistake can lead to a broken chip.

Any pointers that any of you pro's would like to pass along to a newbie...

I assume you've gotten to the pulling the cover off the ecm stage. To pull the chip pull up on the outer edges of the black plastic holder. Flip that over and take a small blade or something of that sort and carefully bend the metal prongs away from the plastic holder. Then push the chip out of the holder by pushing on the middle. When you pop in the other make sure the notch on the end matches the notch on the end of the plastic piece. Make sure all the prongs are pushed down into their holes in plastic piece. Then put the chip and holder back in the ecm with the notch towards the middle.

If you cant quite get that, www.tbichips.com has some detailed instructions.

I pinch the honder together, pushing the prongs in. Then pull apart the plastic and usually one side of the eprom will pop right out. Then I push the hole thing out from the back. Straighten the prongs carefully. Then get a zif socket solderied to your board and no more worries.

It's a done deal. I had no idea how easy it was. It came in the carrier so alls I did was do a switch.

However, it does look mighty tricky to take out of the plastic carrier.

Thanks fellas.
