Oxygen sensor, or bad injector(s), or fuel pump.

You never know, they disabled different codes for different years. My 89 never through a code when the O2 crapped out.

Our motors a probably way different, but once it warmed up and went closed loop (when the ecm reads from the O2 , rather than open loop when it just goes off tables in the chip) it would chug, and spitter and want to die.

Another problem (especially this time of year) is badly corroded distributer. Salt from the winter roads corrods the points.

Replace the fuel filter!!!

You'd be suprised what goes wrong when that thing gets even a little clogged up, trust me I know.

If it still gives you hell after that then give the ignition system a once over to check for anything bad in the distributor, if that checks out then try the o2 sensor, its a cheap and simple, sort of, thing to replace. It's probably worn out anyway, their sensitivity greatly reduces over time. Beyond that its most likely a bad pump not giving enough fuel to the TBI. With the engine running look into the TBI bores and see if the fuel spray is even and not sputtery.

I hope I didn't loose you in there somewhere, good luck!

I did replace the fuel filter. I did check the injectors and fuel pump
they are fine. Do you think it could be the ignition control module?

I had similar problems due to a bad temp sensor.
