just installed cam: now have a few questions

I just installed a cam in my LO3 this past weekend, and now have a couple of questions. First, when my car is running cold, i found that when i come to a complete stop the rpm's die and she starts to cough and will shut off unless i gas it a bit. When i did the swap i didn't do an AFPR, and i think that may have something to do with it. the cam isn't anything extreme, but it may be enough to pose thie problem. I don't think its a vacuum leak, but i could be mistaken. Any advice you guys have would be great. Also, how long to i have to let this thing break in before i can find out what its capable of. thanks

What cam did you put in there? What are the specs on it?

Ya what are the specs, if theyre anything like the specs I thought about throwin into mine that might be your problem.

Mine had the same problem and still kinda does. It's mostly in the chip tuning. I found out it helped to advance my timing more than I used to run it stock. Somewere around 10 degrees. My would try to die sometimes at a stop light and then when I try to give it gas off the line it would hesitate real bad.
Also it would help to adjust your IAC alittle up. Bigger cams need alittle more air at idle.

The cam is a 208/214 w/ a 112 LSA @ .438/.452. I played around with it today and fixed a lot of the problem. Now i just have to dial everything in a bit and go from there. thanks for your help guys.

yeah, i would bump the fuel pressure up to 12-13 psi and the timing to 8-10 degrees for the new cam.

You're runnin rich (I know the feelin, lol). It'll be ok for a little while, but Id get a new chip in when you can afford it.

I aggree with 91bird, bump timing 8deg, and raise fuel pressure.
