Whats With This

How come when i put a tb spacer thats almost a inch thick and a 1/4 injector pod spacer on my 305 tbi then i turn it on it idles so high at 1500 rpm and it sounds like it wants to turn off.??????????I have a flow master muffle only when i put the spacers on the red linded rpm was at 5400 now that the spacers are off its at 4200.

throttle cable pulling the TB plates open a bit because of the TB spacer???

also, make sure you connected everything back up right, especially the IAC sensor and vacuum plugs, i would go with the IAC if i had to bet on it.
It is not the spacers that are causing the problem.

do you mean that it shifts at 4200 when u floor it? as opposed to 5400 before?....if so it sounds to me like, there both linkage problems to me, maybe your putting too much of a stretch on the throttle and tv cable....im no expert but i have heard of that happening after putting on tb spacers

i mean it dosent sound right but it idles higher than normal and it like stalls just a little when i start to accl but above second gear its fine at a stop light it shakes a little and idles rought i think it might be the cables.

adjust the TV cable
check all the vacuum lines to the tbi
check that you have the IAC hooked up properly
make sure you dont have a fuel leak
make sure you didnt pinch the fuel lines when trying to get them to fit the TBI with the 1" spacer.
adjust your idle

do all of these things and let us know if you are still having a problem.

on the front drivers side of the TBI there is a small hole with a little silver cap in it. With a small screwdriver pry out the cap, you can now see the idle adjustment screw. From there it is all common sense.
