BBC EFI system running ULTRA RICH

I've got a TBI setup on my 454. It uses ALL GM sensors, GM TBI, and a GM ECM. I've looked over my [heated] O2 readings with WINALDL, and the readings look within spec. BLM readings are at 133, INT readings sometimes sit at 128...

But regardless, the system runs ULTRA RICH. The engine makes NO POWER if you put it under load. Something as minute as turning the wheels to full lock (causing the steering pump to bypass) is enough strain on the motor nearly causing it to stall out. Even at an even idle, you can hear it popping through the tail pipes. On that note, base timing is set at 8*. Temp is running around 200*F.

One thing I know is that I DON'T have a knock sensor. I've been told that the PE table is disabled in the EPROM. Should this have anything to do with my problem?

I've got GREAT GROUNDS to the motor, chassis, and body. I've been told that might be a possible problem as well... but I have the battery inside the truck, the NEG cable runs from the BATT to a 3/8" hole in the floor boards where I ran a bolt thru to another NEG cable on the other side, and then attached the to frame. The engine is grounded by 2 different ground straps.

I am really just looking for insights into WHAT makes a system runs STUPID RICH, and what I can do to remedy the problem. If you folks can help, I'd be very greatful!:hail:

Have you checked your map sensor? What is the data on winaldl looking like when you apply the throttle? Give us some more info on your data and we might be able to help you a little more.

If it's running ultra rich even when warmed up and the o2 sensor is good then you've got a few problems. First it could be that you're in actuality running too lean. BLMs of 133 is lean, not aweful but if you're getting some BLMs over 136 I'd be concerned. Recheck the dizzy's position and take out timing. Put it where the engine likes it the most and it doesn't stall or sputter. A 454 should be rock solid torque. Double check all the sensor readings and it really sounds like it could be too much timing. This would make it smell ultra rich.

Steve-

I had checked my MAP sensor previously, and it checked ok. Seeing as tomorrow is Easter, I'll work on catching some data first thing next week.

JPrevost-

Yes, even when warmed up, it smells rich and back fires loud as hell *(out the pipes). Timing is at 8* right now... maybe I will start back at 0*, and see what that does for me. I agree @ "rock solid torque!" Its just not there!!! I will run over all the sensor measurements, and make sure they are ok. Last... how could it be running lean, yet WREAK of fuel on the exhaust side?

THANKS GUYS!
