305 HO or not...

305 HO or not...

Hi guys, i got a 88 trans am
I wanna know if its a 305 HO or not,
I saw something the other day on this board about the RPM range but now i cant find it anymore. Where can i look to know?Could anyone help me plzz.

Engine: 363 Vortec w/Miniram
Transmission: built 700r4
88, 305 TPI w/5-speed = the H.O. model. the TBI, carb, and 305 TPI autos aren't.

305 TBIs are definately no H.O.s, unless you call 170HP and 255 ft-lbs high output.

Careful. What he's probably referring to here is the 83-86 L69 H.O. motor; which is carb'd.

Tweezer, the redline should be at 5500 for the H.O. 305.

umm, I believe he said he had an '88 Firebird, in which case there was no L69 as you pointed out, so unless someone actually took the time to swap in an L69, he's got an LG4, LO3, or LB9 peanut cam, which are LOW PO at best.
