pinging problem solved! I Think
tonight I decided to replace my ac delco fr3ls plugs with the recommended champion rc12yc plugs. I gapped them at .050 instead of the usual .045 that I was gapping at.(msd 6a)
I went for a quick test drive and couldn't get it to ping at all. tomorrow will be the real test. then I guess if it's ok I'll put the timing back to 8 degrees advance.. I had backed it to 6 to try and figure out the problem which btw I've had since the new engine went in.. I thought the fr3ls delcos where the equivilent to the rc12yc champions.. unless I screwed up last year when I did the cross refrence.. anyhow edelbrock suggested with those heads to use champion rc12yc or equivilent.. I always prefered delcos so that's what I had put from the beginning..
