i actually heard that it is better to use a lower octane gas when getting your car smog tested.
Also, how old is your O2 sensor?

do a search, there is alot of info about smog testing. Also, try tuning down your fuel pressure if you have made your regulator adjustable.

Want to pass no problem for under $5 ? Heres what ya' do;
run your gas tank down to about 2 gallons of 93 octane. Add 4 bottles of Heat gas line dryer, you know the stuff in the little yellow bottles. Slosh the tank around good to mix it all up. Now go to the smog test and pass! After you pass, drive off those couple of gallons, and go fill up with your normal fuel of choice. I know first habd this method works. I've done it on my own cars. Heat is basically alcohol. Alcohol doesn't produce hydrocarbons as a byproduct of combustion, so the emissions will come out squeaky clean.

You could also try bumping your timing up a little bit. I failed at zero degrees but passed at 6 degrees advanced.
