TBI Mod...Free!!

Ok, I was given this tip from an ASEP Electronics professor:

Put a 10k ohm resistor across the IAT sensor and between terminals A
and B of
the ALCL.

He just said to use premium fuel when you did this
Hope this works, i don't like wiring much, so if I could get a pic, i would do it myself

Maybe you mean ALDL?

Putting a 10k resistor across that just puts the ECM in "ALDL mode". Which is supposed to be used for diagnosis. An ASEP professor told you this?

Also, putting a resistor in with the IAT just bumps the timing up a bit. Kinda a lame way of doing it, but I guess it would work.

I don't want to shoot you down, but I'm surprised an ASEP guy told you this.

PROM tuning is much more effective...

he just said that this was a cheap way of getting a little extra hp. i figured that it was just a way of bumping the timing and changing the prom settings.

also, i was told that putting a capacitor between the two injectors (wiring) would keep out distortion.

there was another, but i can't remember

That may have some merit, but I wouldn't chance it. The capacitor would store some of the voltage that's sent to the injectors, but if one of them suckers failed, or shorted out...

I don't even want to think about it. :nono:

Contrary to popular belief, this mod generally nets a loss of 6hp or so. Ed Wright (over at fastchip) has a pile of resistors he
has removed from cars as he dynoes them over in Tulsa.

Made that mistake once


Advancing timing with a timing light = Good
Advancing timing with resistors = Bad
