Help!!!!

Ok, I'll do this story style....

So I'm sitting at a red light right? Just minding my own business, foot on the brake, waiting for the light to turn green, when all of a sudden my car LURCHES forward, not just a little bit, but like if i didnt have my foot on the brakes it would start accelerating. I end up having to floor the brakes just to keep it from moving, and as I'm doin it, the damn car keeps trying, i see it go between 600-1100 rpm, and back and forth constantly between the two, finally the light turns green, i go, and nothing else happens on the way home...

So the question is...WHAT THE HELL IS GOIN ON HERE? What could possibly be wrong with my car for it to be doin that? Could it be the tps? Thanks for the help it was kinda scaring the **** outta me at the time.

since the tires wernt spinning then it wasn't too bad... check tps voltage and spark start with the basics, spark, fuel, and air

yea i would check the basics first. But it sounds to me like your car was trying to stall, then trying to stay running it kick up on rpm's. Could have just been some bad gas.

thx for the help, I dont think its the basics, i just replaced the air filter a couple of weeks ago (2-3), i just gave it a tuneup a few months ago (1-2), and the fuel, well, it has happened 1-2 times before and it wasn't on the same tank...could I have water in the tank, or maybe something else...I think theres some blockage to my charcoal canister, because when i open my gas cap it relieves pressure, which means the canister isn't doing its job properly, could that have something to do with it?

oh, and about the car trying to stall, I never thought about it before, but I've seen the car almost stall before, it was acting almost the exact opposite way, instead of "having trouble staying awake" which is what it feels like, its more like it seems ready to go, and like i said, it only goes down to 600 rpms at the lowest, which in the case of stalling it goes down REAL low, so I don't think that was it.

Oh and another thing, this might be because of the same problem, I sat at a light once, nothing wrong with the car, light turns green, i TAP the gas, and it starts flying with power it never had before, car just about lifts up as it shoots forward, then all of a sudden it about stalls and goes into limp home mode with a code 13 on until i stop the car and restart it, could that be the same thing?

sry for typing so much shtuff.

oh, last thought, could it be a vaccum leak? im almost positive i have one, but I figured the two would be un-related in this case...

One thing that comes to mind first is, have you checked the bolts holding the TB to the manifold? I've heard or read several times that the TB should be retorqued periodically be cause the bolts tend to loosen up and vacuum leaks/idle quality problems result.

That could be the problem, thanks. By the way, I just found out tonight that the people that were helping me do my tuneup a while back said that my oxygen sensor kept falling out, and it even did tonight (I just ran it at the track , 18 seconds...ima start crying) so I think thats the code 13, but could it ALSO have something to do with the problem?

Oxygen sensor kept FALLING OUT? Well, that's definately not helping, although it still may not be your whole problem. I'd definately fix that first, but I still suspect the TB.

k, ya I've had a lot of problems with all the sensors, i think the previous owner was trying to go carb and was stupid, so he cut the wires to a lot of the sensors, and ****ed them up in other ways, oxygen sensor included.
