I know theres a reason for it , but why do people route true duals down,to the outside then back in to the middle ish instead of straight back and dumped in front of the axles from the headers like trucks are??? Sorry, I know this is TBI board but I still thought I was in the exhaust board

On a stock or lowered ride height car you do not have the ground clearance to run the pipes under the middle of the car, unless you run them tucked up into the drive shaft tunnel.

i ran my one 3" pipe (and i dont see why i couldnt add another) right down the middle next to the driveshaft tunnel and not up in it; the car isnt lowered, but i have plenty of room, and it hasnt bottomed out yet

Well I guess you wouldn't have to put them completely out of sight but thats where there is the most room to run duals. One question, why did you run a single trhee inch exshuast in that location and not in the stock location?

well I live in north tx and you cant distingiush the highways from the backroads, so clearance would be somewhat of an issue

Do they still pave the dirt in Texas. I lived in Longview for a couple of years and when the widened one of the highways they just graded and packed the dirt, then paved it. They also refinished some roads by taring them and then dumping gravel on it. They didn't even run a roller over it or nothing, just opened it back up to traffic and let the public pact it. When I saw that I finally figured out why 90% of all vehicles had cracked windshilds.

Holy crap they try and resurface the roads in Texas??? Here in Oklahoma they throw some gravel and concrete at a trench-filled, crater-ridden, sink-hole infested cattle trail, block it off for a better part of 2 or 3 decades then open it up and let the raging masses shred it to a worthless pile of dust and debree. Hey I love my state, but our roads suck the big ones; I attribute 10% of whats wrong with my car with what I do to it, and the other 90% to the giant gaping holes in the streets.

There's a reason people by sport ute's;

yeah oklahoma has the shi---st roads I have yet to drive on...I live unfortunatly 5 miles from red river.( tx ok border), I was also stationed at fort sill from 96 to 02 and at the begining of my tour their they started repaving on a small farm market road...about a 15 mile stretch if even that...this was in july of 1996 and at the end of my tour at fort sill in sept 2002 they still were about 5 miles from being finished:lala: :lala: :lala: oklahoma depart trans

This is why you SHOULD NOT run true duals on our car. Here is a picture of my car when I had dual exhaust on it. This shows maybe 2.5-3'' of ground clearance. When you stick a couple people in the car you have like 1.5-2'' of clearance. Its terrible.

Very informative response.

Not only has duals been discussed 1000+ times, but he has now waited way over 45 mins to get all of these responces. But okay, I'll help him out, even though he purposely posted on the wrong board (check avatar), people run pipes where they will have the most clearence. Jack up your car and stare under it for about 45 minutes....

And look my ******* sign is better then yours,

The only other real nice dual exahust Ive seen on 3rd or 4th gen aside from *****'s was on my friends 95 TA, but he went with Dynomax bullets so they werent all that much larger than the exhaust pipes themselves. Tucked up nice and dumped before the axle.
