Anyone change their stall converter to a higher one?
My transmissions shot--assuming the torque converter is and the difference in price isn't too much--I looked at a B&M 700R4 lockup--with 2000 rpm stall.
Woould this be a good mod that could shave a wee bit off my ET? (your est please)
Engine is is 99.5% stock--I am adding aprom chip--and maybe (big maybe) cat-back exhaust.

i would go with 2400 if i were you, stock stall is 1600 so by using the a 2000 stall converter wouldnt be too big of an improvement over stock.
I hear Midwest makes a good converter and they are not as much as the B&M or TCI ones

If you plan on future mods, I would go with a 2,400 stall. You'll be happy you did in the long run. Even if you don't plan on modding too much, you'll see better results with a 2,400 stall.

hmmm....no more mods for quite awhile---would having a higher stall (esp 2400rpm)make it harder to drive in winter conditions?
Any problems having 2.73s with either 2000-or 2400 stall?
(I am really hoping to park the car for the next few winters--but am not sure)

I'm running a Midwest stall, 2500-3000 rpm. I love it so far, it's a non lockup but I really don't notice any bad things compared to a lockup. In overdrive you give it alittle gas and the rpms move up alot smoother and you dont even feel it up shift.
As far as winter driving, shouldnt be a problem.
