The paperclips werent working for some reason....So today I went to walmart....bought a code reader.....took it in the parking lot...then returned it lol. i know im a scammer but 20 bucks for a little plastic box with 3 prongs???? they asked for it anyways i got a code 32 and code 54. I got my EGR valve replaced less than a month ago. But the shop that did it were a bunch of retards so what do you think?

ps.....the engine light only goes on after cruising past 60 mph.

did you clean out where the egr goes? the port there tends to get all carboned up and pluged... if so then you may have a bad selenoid..i have the same prob changed my valve for 70 bucks and it still doesnt work. even though i havent taken it back off yet to clean out the port.

you may want to check the voltage at your pump i would be worried with a code 54 only because i hate when i have probs with mine since i've replaced it 3 times!!! and i do all my own work so by now i hate the fuel pump!

Well since I'm a newbie....i honestly don't know where the EGR Valve is or how to get to it. Think you could help me out? lol thanks. Also where exactly is the fuel pump located? Don't laugh at me I'm trying to learn as best as I can!!!! heh thanks so much.

 

no prob.. first off the egr is located right to the left of the distributer a little in front of it... its round and bolts to the block and has one vacume line attached.

the fuel pump unfortunately is located in the tank!! to get it out you have to drop the whole thing and everything in the way!! a real pita..
To check the voltage you need a ohm meter and tap into the pump wires... if you look under your car and put your head a little in front of your rear...... you should see a plug that is the fuel pump plug. unplug it and use your meter i'm not sure what it is susposed to be ohm wise... actually i think it is 90 ohms for a full tank and 0 for empty

Any ideas on how to clean the ports of the EGR system without removing the intake or getting carbon in the cylinder im about to replace my EGR valve tomorow and am looking for ideas. ... along with this im gona remove the catt and put in a pipe. you have to love living in a non emission state. oooh 1 more thing.....how does this EGR valve code 32 problem effect my performance?

 

code 32 will cause the engine temp to rise a little and the engine will be more prone to detonation (pinging) mine will only not ping burning 93 octane gas from 76, exxon or chevron, any other brand of gas or octane will detonate. and you will prob fail sniffer tests. David

 

yeah perfromance is barely anything mostly emmisions and you may run a little more rich..

You dont kave to take the whole intake off just the valve and get a wire brush and clean out the circle that air goes into
