hood feels like an oven
hood feels like an oven
Hey guys,
well today I finally came to the conclusion that my car is getting WAY too hot. When I first start her up.....she runs fast as hell. But after cruisin for about 20-25 minutes, I definitely lose horsepower. When I open up the hood it's realllllllllllllllllllllly hot. I am going to be taking off the guards at the bottom of the windshield (i was told that helps). I'm in the process of saving for a cowel hood too. I also went to Murray's to get an open element Air cleaner. I bought a 14" Edelbrock. Stupidly, I brought it all the way home to realize it was way too big for my K&N air filter. I have the stock air cleaner on it right now. I went back and they only had a 10"...too small..... Any suggestions as to which size open element air cleaner I should buy? Also, any suggestions to lose some of the heat would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you all so much for being so understanding to my newbiness

Okay um take off the rear hood seal but leave it if you dont wash your car by hand because if you go through a high pressure washer then ALOT AND I MEAN ALOT of water will get in there and if it ever rains really hard while your driving around at low speeds like 20 then some water will get in there but other wise i havent had any problems if i were you i would save up for the ram air hood but thats just my 2 pennies/
Thanks for the feedback
I installed an edelbrock open element air cleaner today w/ K&N so I really want to get a hood w/ an air scoop. How much will this run me total and how easy is it to install? Thanks!!!

ASCD has a deal for the ram air hoods going for $435. Just call them up and tell them it's the summersale discount and they'll hook you up. I ordered mine last wed. and it's fast shipping. They said it should be here by either monday or tuesday. Looks real nice on the cars too. The camaro looks good with the ss hood, so you might wanna look into that. Hope this helps.

I took off the hood insulation...it helps retain heat..not what you want. I've no problems--ahven't noticed a big diff but it probably helps a little

wire your fan to a toggle switch and replace your thermostat with a 165 my car runs consistently at 185 in traffic and if i turn my fan on it gets a little under .
