Question about ports on heads

I was changing my lifters yesterday and when I pulled the manifold off I saw that there were two small ports at the very back of the heads that were blocked off on each side , one of them fell off and I was wondering what those ports are for and what would happen if I left them open . Thanks guys

You're going to need to be a little more specific. Are you talking about the coolant passages and by blocked off are you refering to the stock intake gasket with the pinhole in it?

Yes I believe that it is the coolant passages, and I am not sure if its a part of the gasket because they shredded when I pulled the manifold off the blocks were just sitting there when the gaskets were off , but it looks like it could be apart of the gasket

They are the coolant passages and you can leave them open. It won't hurt anything.
