I have a 92 Rs 305 Tbi. Right now it all stock. I am thinking of changing the cam and rokers/lifters. If i do this will I need to burn a chip? Or is there a cam/ head combo that i would not have to worry about burning chips?
Also any other mods I could do with the engine performance wise that I won't have to do anything with the ecu?

 

well, you can change cam without a chip, but you will probably not get the results that you want, or the power the cam is capable of making.

like i and many other have said before, there is alot of performance to be gained by burning your own chips, even on an untouched stock engine. it is the nature of the beast, with EFI, when you change things, you have to tell the computer how to handle it.

 

I would wait and put the cam in later after you have a full exhaust and some suspension mods. You can run an open element and full exhaust on the stock chip without any problems but Dewey316 said it the best about when to start burning chips. If you paln to do your own chips I would start now and learn the basics so when you do more serious mods like heads and cam you will understand what to look for and how to tune your combo.
