I'm going to be selling my 1995 K2500 pickup cause the $6000 loan is making money really tight. When I do I am on the hunt for a 88-92 Chevy 1500 short bed. I want to build a 383 motor for it. It will be my daily driver so the lowest I would be willing to see is like 9mpg.(my old K5 got 6 so I've done the gas station everyday thing) Does anyone have a good setup for a TBI 383? I searched for TBI 383 online and some 330hp motor came up on 4wheeloffroad.com. My goal is definetally 325hp and 400ft lbs. what is the biggest duration cam I could run on a TBI motor?(seat to seat please not .050) I'm thinking World Products S/R Tourqer heads. That and 383 is all I am really pretty sure of right now.

Hey Ill see If i can help ya out here. Liek the sig says I got a TBI 383 and a 94 burb. Im running the SR Torquers, 9.6:1 cr and a lunati 215/224 at .050 ( I know I know its not seat to seat but the specs I know are .050) roller cam. Ive custom burned my own prom for the set up. IT runs like a scalded dog for a 6500 lb brick. Ive surpised a few 3rd gens and lates 80's stangs and even a new (01-02 ish) GT. One thing Id recommend is to give those torquers a bowl job and light clean up. I didnt and I wish I did. Grinding on them for a few hours is worth 20 hp. When i do my lt1 intake swap Ill be yanking them and then doing a bowl job and clean up. Oh and last time i checked I got 12 city and 16-17 (cruising at 80-85 mph) highway. But I drive it hard so you could get better if every stop light isnt a drag race.

Im running a holley tbi unit but Ill never buy another holley tbi. I should have gotten a BBC TBI unit. Ive gone through 3 sets of injectors and 2 complete TBI units. You can definitely tell its holding it back on the top end thats why Im doing the lt1 intake swap. Ive already drilled the hole in my intake and started to drill the new intake bolt holes.

Check out my sig for specs. She is full of torque and makes good power up high- a good reason to spend the extra money on a hydraulic roller set-up. If I were to put it into a suburban or truck, about the only thing I would change is the cam. Something a little smaller in lift and duration would probably make for even more torque and better milage. If you have any questions about the internals, i.e. brand and specs, let me know.
