tbi can't flow enough air? this may be the solution
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33558
i saw one of this guy's auctions for a 2" 305/350 tbi awhile back. he bores them out on a cnc machine. all the benefits of a 454 tbi and it'll bolt right up. checked with the texas better business bureau ... no complaints on him. talked to him for a good while on the phone, he seems to know what he's talking about and offered to give references. haven't needed the 2" yet, so i haven't bought one, but i plan to.
now i see this. a 454 tbi, bored out, with smoothed out throttle shafts. he claims 750 cfm (i gather @ 3"hg, as he compares it to the stock unit's 670cfm). i haven't talked to him yet, so i don't know how he arrived at that figure.
it also looks like he can do it with our throttle linkage. how cool would that be?
i'll post more after i speak to him.
awhile back, there was a lot of discussion over some yahoo selling stock tbi units with the ultimate tbi mods on ebay and claiming 750 cfm, but i think this guy is a pro. if this is the real deal, there's no question that a tbi can flow enough air to support a 383 ...

talked to him on the phone. his name's tom.
i was wrong on one point ... it's not bored out. he said when they measured the bores, they were slightly larger than 2". that's what he meant in the ad.
according to tom, they calibrated their flow bench at 670 cfm on a stock unit, worked it over, then flowed it again and got 750 cfm.
he also confirmed that they can do them with our throttle linkages, making it a lot easier to put one on a 3rd gen.
this looks pretty cool to me, and cheaper than a new 670 holley.

I'm assuming he did the bench test without the injector pod. I believe the 454 tbi flows 600cfm (@3"hg) with the injector pod. The Holley 670 flows 670cfm with injector pod and fuel spray supposedly. So in theory, after you add the injector pod, the unit on ebay will only yeild 680 cfm. You may also need to purchace different injectors as well. Keep in mind the Holley 670 is not that expensive brand new-I bought mine for less than $300 through auto zone a little over a year ago.
It is a good find though sean, and is definetely an option to go with, especially given the throttle linkage insentive. I just think the flow numbers are exagerated a bit.
