As you can tell by my name, I own a 1988 Camaro SC with the 305 Throttle Body Injection and a 4-speed automatic that it came with from the factory. And even though this car turns heads with its unique black/gold color scheme and the 3" Flowmaster, (sans cat) exhaust system, it's just not fast enough... not nearly fast enough. Now, I really don't want to go out and drop some large cash on a Tuned Port Engine, so basically- which is the best bang for my buck? Do these TBI engines really have potential, and would a rebuild be a good idea? Or should I just scrap it, splurge on a 350 TPI? I have some Camaro knowledge, but not nearly as much as most of the guys here- which is why I need your opinions! Please, your help is needed.

hey seems we have a lot in common. i too, have a 305 iroc z ('89) with a 700r4 4 spd auto. most guys wont bother with a 305, cuz it's not an easy motor to make power with. I need to know if u have a budget. I'd rather see u slap on a sleath ram from holley. total cost for everything would be around 650. only thing with that is that u will need a tpi wiring harness. I'm not sure how hard it is to slap on a tpi harness on a tbi car... never attemped it. and intake swap will require this swap. if u have the money to rebuild, I'd recomend finding an l98 block or buying a 350 l98 shortblock through the local parts place (not autozone, pep boys!!!) like a non chain parts store. remanned l98 short blocks generallye are around 1000 bucks. not too bad. only problem is, u will have to buy heads. best bet for that is the gm vortech heads... but I'm not going to go into the 350 issue farther untill i know if u want top go 350 or not. I'm guessing your tbi is a roller motor, and if u want to stay 305, buy a new cam. this will help some. hey let me know what your plans are, ttyl good luck
