car wont start???

Ok, heres the deal, I was driving my car the other day and it started to sputter, kinda like it was going to stall. It never stalled and when I hit the gas it eventually ran fine. Well after I parked the car and turned it off, it would not start. The car cranks hard, the battery is new and working fine, it has a new fuel pump, I can hear it hum when I put the car in run so it think that it is working fine, new fuel filter, msd wires, cap, rotor, coil, plugs. All the connections look good, the wires are not burnt. So what can it be???
thanks in advance

check your alternator. Once your car is on and running, your battery has nothing to do with the process. However, since you said it was puttering before while you were driving, it sounds like your alternator is taking a dump. I could be wrong, but always start with the most obvious things first, which would be your alt. is not holding a charge.

if its starts then stalls after a minute it could be the alt... if its just cranking and never fires up it could be a few things.. since you checked the majors.. check for spark.. hold the wire up from the cap and make sure your getting spark by having a friend crank the engine...next.. make sure you have a full tank of gas lol..

on my car when i run out of fuel, i have to hold the gas to the floor and giv it a start and then it will fire up..

next take the cap off and have a friend crank the car and make sure your dist is turning! wors case senario would be your timing chain snapped or your timing gears are done..

if everything checks out, check your injectors, spray some spray gas into the TBI as someone cranks and see if it starts to fire up then you know its fuel related..

this is what i can offer to you! lol good luck.

Thanks for the quick replies. I forgot to mention that the alternator was also replaced about a year ago, but it was a rebuilt one so who knows. Any way I guess I will check the distributer and see what happens.
