anybody running edelbrock heads 60859w/ power package 3702 cam and 3704 tbi intake?
I was considering this setup because it is such an easy bolt on and it supposedly comes with a free chip from edelbrock. The bottom end will be brand new 350 4 bolt main crate engine.

I have that cam and a performer manifold, which is similar. Theyre ok. Makes good midrange power but dont expect to go much above 5k with it. With the improved 165 cc edelbrock heads paired with a good tbi it should make a nice street motor. I dont know about the chip, though but when you get prom burning equipment maybe you can post the .bin so we can all take a look at it
It would be an easy, all in one box solution, but for the price you really don't get all that much performance. The heads don't flow all that well, the intake doesn't either, and there are better cams to choose from. If 50-state legality and no tuning are priorities then it may not be a bad setup. If you want horsepower or bang for the buck, I'd keep looking.

cost is a good point. Now that he mentions it a better possible setup might be a set of vortecs (youll be buying an intake anyway might as well get a vortec carb intake + adapter) and a compcams XE249-12 cam. IMHO it would be a very good setup for a street motor and would probably deliver the same if not more power then the edelbrock power package for less dough. If you dont want to get too heavily into ecm tuning this would be good. A more agressive setup with a 350 will definatly demand that you spend some time and get the ecm dialed in.

better cam than 3702?
what are some of the best roller cam specs to support the edelbrock heads and performer intake? I dont have to worry about emissions at all, but I still have to worry about the computer right? I like the edelbrock setup except for the cam. if I use a performer or performer rpm carb intake w/ adapter, where do I run my brake vacuum? and how hard is the modification to the linkage? I want to drop it in and go, plus every little thing that you try and change means more money. The reason I am sticking with edelbrock is because the place that is building my engine gets discount on edelbrock, and they swear that they are the best heads. I know that is plenty controversial! they have been building engines for over 30 years.

is your engine a roller or a flat tappet block? IIRC the edelborck power packages for the V8's come with flat tappet cams, which wont work if you want to keep it a roller. How much is your engine builder charging you for the 'power package' and the overall build? If hes charding quite a bit you can probably get stuff cheaper elsewhere and just give him the parts you want to go on the motor. Or, conversly, you could just have him build your short block and then take it from there on your own.
