Idle Problems / 305 TBI 89 RS
Idle Problems / 305 TBI 89 RS
My 305 TBI runs great above idle.... But..... It began to stall after warmup, then anything below 800 RPM stutters and dies.
I changed... IAC valve, Cold Start, Injectors, Fuel Regulator, Plugs, wires, Rotor Cap and Button, and TPS.... next thing is the connectors for each of the above mentioned jewels... I've spent way too much, but it beats a 700.00 mechanic bill from somebody that will probably tell me the same thing.... One other suggestion was the FUEL PUMP. It gets fuel, I know this when I tear down the TBI, although does anyone know if the fuel pump would cause the stall at low idle.....??????

Hmmm, I don't really know for sure. Have you changed the CTS, and actually checked FP when it is stalling out?
The TBI and Fuel pump work from the ECM.. When you turn you
ignition to the On position you should hear your fuel pump charge
your system.. It automatically feeds to your lines so you wont
have to give it gas on startup. Also I have had problems where
my Ignition Module under the Distributor cap was faulty and would
not alow my engine to fire.
With your guestion it could be a number of things.
Such as :
Spark plus worn or not gapped properly.
Faulty spark plug wires.
Choke not operating properly.
Defective fuel injector(s)
Incorrect ignition timing.
Faulty ESC components.
Vacuum leaks at fuel injection units.
Vacuum hoses to TBI not connected properly..
ALSO TRY TO CHECK YOU CODES.
You can do this by connecting one single wire
to the two connection slots at the TOP RIGHT CORNER
of the ALDL under the Driver side panel.. Just turn your
switch to the ON not run posistion and ground them two
connections together and your CHECK ENGINE like should
blink your CODES..
