Transmission: out of a v-6 s-10 blazer!
Lost!
I have been looking at changing my cam since i started my rebuild back in um? Well when ever it was.
I have been researching a couple of options
1. an LT1 cam
2. L98 cam
or
something custom (not to likely)
What I have is
305 TBI bored .40 over something like 312 ci
Hoping to get a set of headers!
I just want this car to be a cruiser!
No computer problems!
I read about all of the swaps, search everyday, but still lost.
I am intrested in hearing what cam you have and the Pros and cons of doing that swap. Where the power band moved to,ETC.
I would like to keep the low end power!

If you just want it to be a cruiser and not have computer problems then I would just stick with the stock cam, maybe even get some 1.6 rockers to raise the lift a little, but you wont have any problems with it and the low end will still be nice.

Im running 1.6 Federal Mogul rocker arms (stamped steel) $64 and advanced my timing from 6* to 8* and gained alittle bit more than 2 tenths and about 1 MPH at the track.

If you put any cam in there larger than stock you will need to do computer work. If you just want a cruiser, stick with the stock cam and add a full exhaust, intake and a couple other goodies and you will be good to go. That is where my car is at right now. The only thing left to do (which is about to be started) is add some heads and that cam I have laying around. You can only over bore a 305 .030 over just to let you know. You would most likely need computer work with that as well.

id say the lt1 cam as well... Some of the earlier L98 cams werent bad, either. Itll do ok w/o a prom but itll definatly help. Ive driven my car close to 40k with the stock bin and it works pretty well. Hopefully next weekend will have some decent weather so i can finally get out and make changes to the stock programming.

Thanks everyone! Please keep the Info coming! i cant wait to get my crank kit to start the reassembly of my motor! Hope fully it will be here by the end of next week!

I just thought I'd mention that the stroking kit to make a 305 into a 334-335 engine includes a new crank and boring it .040 over....you could always do that.
Just a suggestion.
I heard that you could bore a 350 as much as .090 over, and a 305 as much as .060 over...
