is there any difference between a 89 and a 92 tbi computer? the reason i ask is i was haveing an idle issue i was acting like it had a miss and surged alittle, i changed throttle position senvor, and the idle control valve, plugs, wires cap rotor, and still did it. well i had a parts car that i stripped and i took the computer from it. I installed it in my 92 and it seems to run great, but the part #'s on the two computers are diff. I was just curious if there was a diff between the two. I looked in the tech board and the HP are the same to the 2 years. actually i quess i am asking do you think that the computer that was in the car was messed up in some way with out giving me a light. thanks sean.

 

if they are both the 8746 computer (last 4 digits of the part #) it should work. the only other diffrence may be the PROM you are using. if it is diffrent i could potentialy cause problems.

IIRC the 88 cars are the only weird ones.

 

Looking at a wiring diagram would be the best answer, but as I recall they are a plug and play interchange.

Off the top of my head the 88 is a 8063, and the 92 is a 8746.
