Need LO3 cylinder head advice

I recently acquired a 91 RS, 55,000 miles, 305 TBI, LO3. While it is in good shape, it needs some modification. I am going to put in the Edelbrock Performer intake & Performer-Plus cam/lifters. While I'm in there, I want do the heads, but I haven't found many options. Just the WP S/R Torquer 305 heads.
Question: What other heads would you all recommend?
Question: Does anyone have experience with the WP heads?

I don't expect the 305 TBI to ever be real fast. I just want a reliable daily with better than stock performance. Thanks for your help-

just to let you know you do not want the Edelbrock camshaft, our cars have roller cams and that one is a flat tappet. I would go with a used L98 (350 TPI) cam, add 1.6 rockers if you want to go alittle bigger, or go with an used LT1 cam if you want to go even bigger. Both cams can be bought on ebay or the classifieds of this site or www.camaroz28.com for around $50 shipped, even less for the L98 cam. Roller cams do not wear as much a older style flat tappets camshaft so if u can find one with under 50K miles, i should still be in great condition.

Do a search for the World Torquer SRs. I believe those are the only heads that are made specifically for 305s and i hear they flow well.

i would say world heads, vortecs, if you want the stock route, find either 416 (l69, lg4), or LB9 or l98 heads.

i also vote no on the edelbrock cam.

of course i am trying to sell an UltraDyne racing cam for a 305 right now

Gotcha - ditch the Edelbrock cam. I'll look into the L98.

Couple more quick questions...
Do you think it will idle okay with the L98 cam and 1.6 ratio roller rockers?
Do you have any favorite rockers to recommend for this combination?
What kind of HP/torque increase would you estimate from the intake, cam, rockers mod?

BTW - I appreciate the advice -

go with the comp pro magnum rockers and you will probably see about 30+ rwhp with those mods.

I wouldn't go l98...id try a lt1 or a lt4 camshaft. The s/r torquers are a good head for a 305 tho.

What other mods do you have to compliment a heads and cam swap. You need to make sure that your fuel system is up to par and running extremely well. Depending on how big you go with your set-up you may be starved for fuel and will need bigger injectors and fuel pump. You will also need a full exhaust. A few suspension mods will help you plant it and a gear swap will keep that new power in the right RPM range. The world heads and the 416 castings (plus any TP head) are really the only true bolt on heads for these cars. That means EGR and everything. Other heads will work but you will need to tune for EGR delete as well as many other factors if they have larger than stock chambers or other parameters that don't mesh with sotck heads or high lift cams.

Lt1 cam specs .447 .459 201 208

granted teh lt1 has a hair more lift, but is quite a bit down on duration.

If I did it again I'd either go ZZ4 cam or Crane Powermax 2025 for LT1s, but for a daily I wouldnt do either of these unless you like to do tuning. Something smaller, even the L98 and LT1 cams will require a lot of tuning but they're driveable with less work.

I really like my vortecs, except Ive been itching to do an 8 injector fuel injection and there are no low cost options (common, $400 for a tpi intake?). Hopefully Holley gives us a stealth ram soon. Thats the only downfall aside from the trickey egr if you want to run it, I went the easier route and deleted it. Swerve driver (sp?) has posted a real nice picture on how he runs his EGR with Vortecs, you might want to look for it.

E-Tec heads would be nice, but the Vortec heads are cheaper.

I'm thinking about getting e-tecs myself.

BTW the stock fuel pump can handle some hp. Im running my 350, with lt4 cam, holley intake, holley carb, full exhaust...all off a 305 tbi fuel pump. No lose of up top either.

However I am about to get nitrous so I am using a carb pickup in the tank and im gonna run a holley blue fuel pump...ahhh plenty of fuel.

Thats the key right there. You can run a TBI pump because a carb does not need a high pressure system. You will not need 17+psi at WOT with your combo like you with TBI or any other fuel injection set-up.

Mine didnt hold power worth anything, but all parts are not made equal.

Shifty-
I just got this car two months ago.
Current mods include:
Dual outlet 80 series Flowmaster
Open Element Air Cleaner

Soon To Come:
Intake
Heads
Cam
Torsen Posi and 3.42 gears
High flow cat

That's about as far as I have planned to go. I want a relatively mild cam with good idle. If I ever really want it to scream, I'll probably swap in more cubes. You guys have given me some really good ideas about cams. I need to do some more research. I think that I will go with the World Products heads. Gracias-

Well you are off to a good start. I would get a true cat-back and get your high flow cat now with some headers. This is step one when adding power to these cars. You already have your open element done so you have the intake covered. If I were I would research up on tuning and heads and cam combos for these cars while I was upgrading the exhaust.
