Coil Relocation, where did you put it?
Hey Guys
Well my nitrous solenoids have now claimed the place of the stock coil, so I need to relocate it. Where have you put it? I'd like to keep it as close to the dist. as possible. My concerns are:
1) Drilling in the firewall, is there anything you'll hit if you drill through the firewall in particular?
2) Water; I suppose the coil isn't in the best location stock, but I'd like to keep it away from moisture (I live in the desert so this isn't such a big concern)
Pictures would be awesome!
Thanks
Tony

Just find a remote place for it on your firewall. There should be enough of a lip there that water won't get at it. You just don't want it to far away from the distributor.

why not just relocate the soleniods and keep the coil where it belongs. there are tons of places to mount those tiny nitrous soleniods.

A couple reasons:
1) Not enough nitrous line; the bottle's in the spare tire compartment and the line that I got comes in from the passenger side and makes it to approximately the middle of the intake manifold, I don't have any more line
2) Not enough metal line coming from the throttle body plate.
3) It fits beautifully
4) It puts the purge valve right near the firewall
Basically I don't want to buy any more lines or mess with cutting, flaring and crimping if all possible

I have mine on the driver's side firewall. The stock style wire just reaches it, so that kinda gives you an idea of where it's at. Man, I need a digital camera....

there is nothing directly behind that upper part of the firewall.... you'll notice it leads to the empty cowl space where the linkage that moves the wiper arms is.....
so as long as the screws dont hit the linkage, you can fashion a simple bracket and bolt it to the firewal anywhere along there.

yeah man, I'll get pictures of it as soon as I can. I don't know about the interior designer thing, but I'm from Hartland, Wisconsin, so it's quite possible

here's another pic.
The purple thing is my lame attempt at changinth the tpi aircleaner's color. I don't like it, so it is going to be gloss black.
Those lines you see are just my fuel lines, not nitrous. When you've had the TBI in as many different positions as I have, the stock fuel lines just don't cut it.
