TBI vs CCC
Ok normally this would be a no brainer, and I asume most people would say the TBI. Here's what I am looking at. I have an 86 Cutlass Supreme. It has a non-CCC carb. I am thinking of switching to a EFI (or almost EFI CCC steup). The car is a Canadian car so I have been told that it should already have the CCC dash harness. Should I simply be able to grab the CCC ECM, motor harness, sensors....ect and add it to the car fairly easy. Or would it be about just as much work to do TBI. Is there any chance the CCC dash harness would work with the TBI? Or are the pinouts and wire colors way different?
The car is a daily driver, every day including our lovely winters. So I am looking for reliablitly and gas mileage. I probably will add a few performance things, like small cam, intake, head work. But it will stay around the 250HP mark.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Id put my vote in for the CC q-jet. If the harness and ecm are still there, then your half way done. Youll then need to get a CC q-jet (can kinda be pricy when rebuilt) and any sensors that youll need, like the IAT, CTS, O2, etc. Its more work then that but its doable. If nothing remains of the origional wireharness or ecm then its probably about the same ammount of work for each except with the tbi youll need a new in tank fuel pump as well. Your best bet for the swap of your choice is to get one that is complete so you wont be nickle and dimed to death trying to piece it together.

Thanks for the info. From what I know (bought the car monday) there is no ECM just the harness.
I am leaning towards the TBI route. The CCC might be easier, but since I live in Canada not very many cars have the CCC setup, so finding a complete donor car is almost impossible. However there are tons of TBI astro at my local PickaPart. So I can get everything for pretty cheap. Since for now my motor is more or less stock I just need a stock 305 prom and away I go.
Thanks

If thats the case then tbi will work fine. Im not 100% sure but i think the truck harness may be longer then the one for the f-body cars. Either way, the ecm, sensors, and tbi will all work fine for the car. The only things youll probably need are possibly a harness, a 305/350 prom and definatly an in tank fuel pump. IIRC the 4.3L injectors are smaller then those for the 305 so you might have to get teh larger 45 pph injectors as well.

Thanks for the help. I am actualy thinking of putting the ECM under the hood in a custom water tight box. From what I gather the Astro harness are pretty short and don't have a firewall conection. It will be alot easier to run the wires under the hood rather then bringing them inside and I will have easy access to the prom for changes. Of course a few thing will have to go inside.
Thanks again
