ok guys im at a stand still.i need some opinions.should i switch my car from TBI to TPI or should i get a supercharger for the TBI.Money is no concern and time is no concern.if there is a company that makes superchargers for TBI Fbody cars who is it?Any and all help is very much appreciated

 

I don't think anyone makes a SC for the LO3 but I believe you can modify one that has been made for a truck. I don't know how much power it would give you compared to TPI tho.

 

You could find a roots style supercharger and just get a TBI adapter for the top....no big deal. Just don't even think about doing it on a stock L03.....not worth it, the heads won't do much good for forced induction. Then you could go with a Paxton, Powerdyne, or Vortec centrifical superchager. One of them makes kits for carbed engines (not sure which one) and it would probably work with the TBI. If you are still stock and just want some more power, you could go to TPI and worry about wiring and new ECM and all that, but you'd have loads of torque to play with....over the L03 that is. But, if you are stock and want more options....get some LB9 or L98 heads and just port your TBI. That would help you out a bit. If you want to do just intake, you could go to the Holley TBI systems that utilize the 2" bores and flow 670cfm. The TPI would probably be cheaper than a supercharger since you can get complete systems for around $250. Plus you can put that on a stock engine and have peace of mind, can't do that with forced induction.

if you are willing to spend $3K on a supercharger then why dont you just put $3K into a new 350. It would give you much better results than supercharging a L03 or any TBI at that.

Anyways, I second the 350 idea. If money is no concern, then your best bet would be the engine of your choice with a state of the art fuel system.

 

I "third" that idea. Supercharging and LO3 is a dead end road. So is TPI.

 

if money was no concern, why not buy a LS6 block and mod the hell out of that. Your returns on that mod for mod will be well worth the money involved.

I've seen a 372 stroker t-56 based off a ls6 pull 12's in the drizzle, spinning from 1st to 4th the whole way. To top it off, the car was very streetable, no overheating issues, and a smooth idle. Mind you it was mated to a 4th gen body, but its not a stretch to do the same.

 

I wouldnt bother switching to tpi, not that i have anything against them, but you will loose top end power, i have a friend with a 91 GTA with TPI, and i can kill him from a roll or in the quarter.
vjo90RS8, is right, 3k would get you an awesome 350 engine.

 

one guy that i talked to at the track said i should get the GMPP 350 330hp crate motor and i can leave it TBI and another guy said i should get a ram jet 350 from GMPP he said that motor comes with everything for like 5 grand

 

I went with the 1st option, cost me only $3000 a few years ago and that price includes everything new from air filter to oil pan. And even with a stock ANLU eprom I was running high 13's at over 100mph, which isn't too bad. With tuning and no more wheel hop I expect the car to be in the low 13's tomorrow.
