Starts when depress gas pedal...
My car is a 92rs 305 tbi
I recently replaced the starter on my car and proceded to try it out - the motor turns over but it wont start. I didnt disconnect any thing except for the iac connector and plugged it back in. It does start though when i give it gas and it stumbles a bit and as soon as i let of the gas it dies on me. I am not too sure if i hear the fuel pump with the key set on acc. I need to replace the valve seals so the car smokes a bit especially on startup so i probably have oil on the plugs...any ideas???
thanX

Check your fuel pump and injectors. Have some look at your injectors while you crank. Do you see fuel? You may still see fuel but you can have a bad pump. My injectors dribbled when my pump went out.

The car ran fine before the starter replacement - the only problem it give me is choppy idle at startup kinka makes it sound like it has a cam in there "which it dont" and smoothes out after that. I think that may be a vaccum leak that i am unable to detect or a dirty iac valve

If you leave the sensor that plugs into the bottom of the air cleaner unplugged it will run just like you described. Also, the vaccum hose coming off the front of the TBI to the bottom of the air cleaner, needs to either be plugged or connected.

Is there an easy way to remove the fuel pump and filter on my 92rs 305 tbi...If it turns out to be that ?
