High Idle

I'm running a stock LO3 in my 90 Formula and sometimes it idles up at 2k-2500 RPMs. If I drive for a little while then turn it off then back on it drives sooo much nicer and the idle will stay around 7-800 RPM. When I first start my car I also have to press the gas pedal a couple times because its just hard to move at first so I rev it up in neutral a little bit before I go anywhere, not sure if those 2 problems are related at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

something appearsto be hanging up. apparently heat helps the matter. i think mine may be the same issue. hangs up at 900 rpms and if i tickle the throttle it drops to 700. stick shift. 98,000 miles the casing may be worn on cable.

I was thinking I could have a vac leak but I don't think that would affect my gas pedal. Although I'm not all that concerned about that but a 2500 RPM idle is affecting my gas mileage and the only way I can get the RPMs down is to shift into a higher gear and force them down that way but if I go back into neutral they go back up

Check your throttle body shaft for play. If you have any movement from top to bottom theres a good chance the throttle blades are sticking open a small amount causing a fast idle. If this is the case it's time to replace the tb base.
