part # for external FPR

who is running an external FPR for TBI? I want to remove my FRP from TB and run my TB's parallel and add the same I am at 9 lbs now and want to increase one lb at a time and record drivability and retune. stock FPR can be made adjustable but would like one that is EASILTY adjustable and accessable without removing air cleaner assembly. what is your favorite? part # please.

I would go to Summit or Jegs online catalog and check out what they have to offer. You will need an fpr that is adjustable from say 10psi to about 25psi. Happy searching.

TBIs use a bypass style regulator. Fuel pump pressure goes directly to the injectors. The regulator is after the injectors and returns any un-needed fuel/pressure back to the tank.

The other style regulator is between the fuel pump and carb/injector. The pressure is regulated before the carb/injector. The Holley blue pump/regulator is an example. These are mainly used in carb systems.

are you sure, because that would mean i would be running 46psi at the injectors. if that was so then i'd need new injectors by now. and also the psi gauge would read 46psi instead of the 10psi its set at.

no it wouldn't, it regulates the pressure in the line before it, by controlling the amount of fuel returned to keep a steady pressure. think of sort of like 'back pressure'

ok so it flows threw the line to the injectors then to the reg. and plops out the 10psi. okay i got it turned around i tookout on my injector pods at remembering where the fuel was siting(when i took it apart) it does flow that direction.

The way I read this, the pressure gauge is more or less reading a differential pressure across the injector pods, not an actual pressure reading at the pod inlet. this is telling you that you have....say 40psi at the inlet and 10psi on the gauge...that means that 30psi worth of FLOW ENERGY is being dumped back to the tank via the return line.

not really, what happens is the FPR regulates the fuel in the line, by only allowing so much pressure to be created in the feed line. although it physicly after, it regulates the pressure in front of it.

ummm, i didn't know you could take out the stock FPR and put in an external one. Sure as hell would make tuning easier. I guess i didn't know this because I don't come on here that frequently. Damn college!!

BTW, Dewey, what you are saying makes perfect sense. You explained it perfectly i thought. :hail:
