Air sensor?

I read some stuff about putting the IAT sensor back in when changing over to an open element air filter. The problem is when I bought my car there was already an open element filter on it but I didn't see any sensors in or by the thing at all. I really want to hook everything up right so I don't have any problems down the road but I can't find the sensor. Could someone explain where the wiring that goes to the sensor comes from so maybe i could track it down? Thanks ahead of time for any answers.

The IAT sensor has two wires going to it. I dont remeber their color exactly but they come out of the main engine harness towards the back of the engine. With a stock air cleaner assembly, the IAT is mounted on the bottom towards the back of the air cleaner.

Would anyone know if the IAT from a V6 sends the same readings to the ECM on a V8? I am considering moving it to the stock V6 location which is at the front of the car in the fresh air intake. the harness plugs are the same.

I would just look up both and see if the part numbers match. If they do than they are the same sensor.

as one with a v6 camaro and v8 TBI, i can tell you they aren't the same sensors. The IAT sensor on a v6 and TPI car look almost identical to the Coolant temp sensor on a TBI v8. Even so, i used the IAT sensor from a v6 on my TBI v8 and it ran fine. It never tripped a code. I dont know for sure, but personally, i dont think the IAT sensor is that damn important. Hell, the first 6 weeks i owned my car it didn't even have an IAT sensor at all and it still pretty much ran the same after i put one on.
