Need help: New chips.. car pooped

I put a new chip in my car from tbichips.com, it ran fine for a day, now it's screwed up on me. The "check engine" light flashes, and the car idles at about 15-20k RPM. I tried pushing the chip in tighter, and warming it up, but neither worked. Is the chip dead and the car in some sort of safe mode? Or will the car run at all if the chip is not right?
Thanx,
Chris

Put the stock one back in and see if you still have problems.

Those old 2732 eproms arnt that stable after all these years. I tried unsuccessfully to use them. out of the 6 or so that i bought, 5 were dead. The computer is going into 'limp home' mode after the chip bit the dust. Just put the stock one back in, that should solve the problem.

edit: if you want to have a custom chip, you can get the moates adapter and take advantage of being able to use the newer flash rom. I have eeprom and it makes my life alot easier. I dont have to worry about it pooping out and the chips are a snap to reprogram.

moates.net is the place that carries the 28 pin adapters. 30 for the adapter and another 150 for a burner, but its well worth it considering what you yourself can do. The flash rom can be programmed just by sticking it in the burner and hitting 'program'. Theyre stable because theyre not 20 some odd years old and they program almost instantly.
