So I've had a ton of parts in my room forever now.
I'm finally going to put them to good use.
As soon as I repay Visa the $800 I borrowed from them I will begin an engine swap.
And it will be backed by a TBI.

350 flat tappet approx 9.5:1
Vortec L31 heads
Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap
Holley 670cfm TBI
Comp Cams XE268H with hydraulic lifters and springs

Spohn LCAs, ReLos, Wonderbar, and SFCs
TransGo Shift Kit (may never install that)
LT4 standard cam (intended for the 305, dunno)

I need to buy gaskets and minor things still.




Anybody have any suggestions to make thigns easier?

The real question is how do u only have an $800 bill and youre in college? I stepped onto campus as a freshman and 15 min later, i had a $1200 debt. College students and credit cards dont mix.

NEWays, what kind of block is the 350?
I also think youre gonna need a bigger stall than stock, and while the engine is out is a perfect time to change convertors.

 

The block is from a 70s truck. It was swapped into my friends Camaro before he bought it (92 RS) and then he took it out in exchange for a ZZ4.

Yeah I think I'll need a new torque converter for this higher RPM setup. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend though. Any suggestions on that?

lol my debts are definitely on the rise to visa. I owe my school $6500 if that counts.

 

Remember, your 70s block has a two piece rear seal. The crank that comes in that style motor has a different flange for mounting the flywheel/flexplate. You will need a 153 tooth flex plate that fits on an older style crank. Or if the old style (larger)flex plate fits in your bell housing you may be abile to use a different starter motor and get buy. At any rate there will be some swapping to do to make it work. The good news is that its been done before and the guys on the engine swap board have the answers.

Summit has a B&M 153 tooth flex plate that fits 55-85 SBC for $79.95. Might be your best bet. Check swap board and see before you spend money. At any rate, its better to find out now then in the middle of the swap.
