Keeping It Rich?

IVE BEEN NOTICING MY CAR HAS WAY MORE POWER, VERY NOTICABLE.... DURRING THE WARM UP STAGE, ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER START TILL ABOUT 20 MINUTES WHEN THE TEMP HAS REACHED THE POINT THE ECM KICKS IN, IM WONDERING HOW TO KEEP IT IN THAT MODE, ANY HELP WOULD DO, COOLANT SENSOR OR??? THANKS!

When your car is in open loop (whens its cold) it sends more fuel and more timing. Plus there isn't any heat soak for the incomming charge so all around the car does make more power.

This may jsut eb an illusion since during cold start there are extra IAC counts added in that, with the throttle follower, make the car 'feel' faster and more responsive on tip in. You may also have issues with closed loop. One thing that i remember was teh stock calibration for my 8063 was really rich so that probably also helps the car to feel faster. Its also a good idea to take it easy on a cold engine. Not good for the motor to abuse it while its still cold.
