*edit* Enthusiasm understandable, but still a PG site

They worked on it for two hours and discovered that I over tightened the valves. So they reset the lash and it fired right up. I'm an idiot but I'm glad it's over with. They told me I have a lot of loose ends to tie up (regarding the TV cable for one). I have a Vortec linkage bracket, but the fuel lines get in the way. Where can I get some flexi-hose for those and how much? what size? etc

AWESOME. I can't wait to go pick it up.

fuelline? how about aeroquip push on fuel line with appropriate fittinngs. they have a variety of angled fittings. also have a slick compression fitting to attach to hard fuel line as in a splice.

Hey awesome news. How did you adjust your valves to tight? Did you floow the chiltons or did you go past a half turn? I will try to dig up the site that has a great how to on the braided fuel lines. Board member camaroz28boy has it on his site. I think that is his name

The valves can be tricky to adjust. I usually do the jiggle method since I alwats evertighten them by just spinning alone. Dont worry too much about it, though. Even the assemblers of crate motors from GM have the same problem. They seem to crank the rocker nuts down till the lifters bottom out. I have a '929 cam that has wear all the way around each lobe because the lifters always rode actross the entire cam at high speed.

I tightened them as said, I jiggled them until they didn't move vertically anymore, then went 1/2 turn tighter. I guess I just did it wrong or soemthing. Oh well.

I can't wait.

You probably forgot to rotate the engine as you did it.

Im with chuck, just get them to where the engine will start and set em with the engine running. Ive never had a problem with that.

Dude, like, AWESOME! Go figure it was something that only took a few minutes to screw up. Thats the way all detremental(sp?) problems end up. If it was something major you'd have fixed it in no time!

Token, what kind of cam and lifters did you put in? Your adj. procedure was for stock Hyd. lifters! After-market Hyd. lifters for hi perf. cams usually set at 0 lash. If you went 1/2 turn you definitely went to far!!!! Do let us know how it runs yah?
(how much did they gitcha for?)

I dont think half a turn was too much, but usually a 1/4 to sometimes 1/8 of a turn is better if you intend to rev the motor. It is somewhat tricky to adjust them with the car off. Ive never had much trouble with it, but I always re-adjsut them warm/motor running and set them all to 1/4 of a turn.
