I'm looking for just a little power and the fun of ripping down an engine. I'm a senior who'll be heading off to college next year and I'm hoping to get just make this my summer project. Honextly, I'm not expecting much out of this. A nice pickup would be great but I'm more interested in how much pride I'll have once i open the engine, take everythign off, and get it all back together. Starting it and having it run without problem will be the biggest joy in my life. I know i can save up for the LS1 and LT1 and all that or drop in the 350 but I'm poor and have a 305. Don't want to preach so I'll stop there but i understand your argument and after college, I will have a nice thirdgen with the works. For now I'm happy with my 305 TBI L03 motor to push me around.

as far the the AFPR goes the free mod is well worth it. there are a couple different variations to that mod though now, you can make it adjustable and not have to remove it to adjust it. do a search for the afpr-youll find the info needed.

Can I keep the stock pushrod even though I'm using the TPI heads? Are there any mods I need to do to the heads to get them going other than the valve springs? I'm trying to keep cost low on this so I don't want to replace valves or othe rthings unless it's going to be necessary.

That is the beauty of the 081 heads. You can re-use anything that is still in good working order like pushrods and lifters.

I didn't get eh pushrods from the guy selling me the heads. Will the pushrods in my current engine work with the new heads?
