Help! All of a sudden car won't idle properly

Help! All of a sudden car won't idle properly. When taking off at a light I have to pump the gas to keep it from stalling. On the freeway it won't go beyond 70 MPH.

This only started a hour ago, Up until then I had good power and quick trottle response.

Oh by the It's a 305 TBI w/auto.

Help please, Thanks

Sounds like a dying fuel pump. I would by a gage and see what pressure your pump is putting out.

I just replaced my fuel pump on my 89 Camaro RS.

Now the fuel gauge reads full + 1/4" higher. It's never read that high before. It's always been erratic but now I think it's gone for good.

I've found a couple of places but they want $400. I can get one from a junk yard for$75 but not sure how good that is.

Suggestions anyone.

Thanks

Well depending if you messed with the sending unit your fuel gage will read differently. Mine alwaysd reads higher when full. A bad gage won't cause the problems you are experiencing. Does you car run better after the new pump?
