fuel pressure guage?

is it possibe to hook up a fuel pressure guage to our TBI's? i think my fuel pump is going and id like to have the pressure gauge to check it at highway speeds cuz it runs fine at idle, plus it would be a good investment overall.

Yes you can. You can hook it onto your feed lne and read your pressure at idle. Or you can fab it up and have it sit on top of your hood so you can read it at WOT. I would just data log to see what your fuel demands are. There are lots of posts out there on this. You will see that many people get the summit one for 20 bucks. Most people do this to make sure that their pump is not dying.

It depends where you mount it. Most people can only see the reading when their car is dieling and the hood is open. I have yet to see anyone that has succesfully rigged one up to see while they are driving.

I will have to look. Just look on summit and jegs for their brand FP gage. They range from 20 to 50 bucks. The one you want is 30 I think. I have not done this mod and would hate to do the research for you

If you are gonna run one inside the car use an electric guage. Shouldn't be too hard.

You beat me to it. They make a nice elctric one that has a sending unit and such that goes under the hood. Than you can run the gague in a pillar inside your car. I have no idea how it would install but I can't see it being to hard. I beleive track tested makes it. But Autometer and others make one as well. You may want to call one of those compnay's and have them explain it to you better and help you with your application needs.

like I said, if you plan on putting it inside the car the electric is the only way to go. You won't pass tech at the track with a mechanical guage inside the car. If you don't plan on putting it inside the car then you'll be fine, but otherwise go electric.

what do you mean it wouldnt pass inspection at the track if its mechanicle? is their a safety hazard involved?

i will check into electric ones then, though they look expensive, and now i believe my problem is the egr valve, so i may not need one so soon afterall

You can't run a fuel line inside the car. Think about it.

there's a sending unit in the engine compartment that sends a signal to the enectric guage inside the car, much like how the factory did it with the other guages.

i would think a long hose to gauge and then allow it to come into passanger window for testing purposes only. a passanger could hold it or could be duct taped to inside window very temporarily.

I have this electric A/F gauge on my a-pillar:

SUM-G2986 (summit p/n)

. . . in this Autometer pod:

ATM-10201 (summit p/n)

I also have an analog gauge mounted in my engine bay in the feed line similiar to what Chuck posted.

The electric gauge plugs into the O2 sensor. It's very easy, and VERY sweet looking.
