I would check your fuel filter and make sure it is not clogged. After that i would check the fuel pressure at the feed line. It sounds like you have a dying pump.

welcome to the land of a dying fuel pump.... my car doesnt the same thing unless i put some 100 octane in then it runs ok. how many miles does the pump have on it?? fuel filter is alway work changing esically if you end up doing the pump. also if you put in a new pump replace the strainer while you got it all apart.

Check the see if you injectors need cleaning, maybe you aren't getting enough fuel.

I would also check your cap and rotor. My last project car would do that at idle (and it especially enjoyed doing it at intersections ). When I looked at the cap and rotor, the metal prong on the rotor was hanging on for dear life, and the points tips on the underside of the cap were either covered in corrosion or worn down to nothing.

I have the same problem when Im at a stop. It has gotten to where 1/4 of the time i have to power brake a bit to keep the rpms up. It just flat out dies on me!

I have replaced the fuel pump, wires, plugs, cap, and i have cleaned the tbi. It really pisses me off. PLEASE HELP!

I'd check for clogs in the fuel feed line.

I once had problems with sputtering, dying, and a horrible idle (if you could even call it that), and originally thought it was a fuel problem. It ended up just being the coolant temperature sensor right on the front of the intake ($10) or maybe the connection to it. What was happening was the computer was reading an open circuit across it, which translates to -32 degrees F (read with WinALDL). In response, the computer was basically flooding the engine, thinking the air was super cold (and dense).

Just an idea to throw out there, before you go replacing the fuel pump. Take a look in your TBI and see if maybe too MUCH fuel is coming out.

BTW: I never even got the code for CTS until after I knew what the problem was. I found the problem by plugging in WinALDL and seeing if any of the sensors had rediculous readings (like -32*F coolant temperature)

EDIT

Never mind I just reread the post, and if it can idle then its probably not CTS. Still a good diagnostic to plug in WinALDL and see what your sensors are reading.
