Open element on an Edelbrock intake. QUESTIONS w/in. . . .

I've got a bored out Edelbrock TBI intake on my 350. I've also just purchased a K&N 14x2 element to replace my 14x3. (don't ask)

Anyways, I was wondering what setups other people are running who have the Edelbrock TBI intake. . . sizes, drop base, flat base, spacer ring, TBI spacer?????

Right now it's the 14x3 w/ an Extreme lid on a drop based bottom w/ the spacer ring still place. I have to place a piece of cardboard in between the bottom and the coil wire because I don't want it rubbing it down, or possibly shorting out.

Let me know guys, because I know the Edelbrock is like a 1/4 - 1/2" higher than the stock intake and I want this thing to fit nicely under the hood, AND over the manifold and ingnition stuff.

You could always stick a piece of clay or playdough in between the tbi and the hood and close it. Then you can know how tall to go by looking at the squished part.

Well you know that I have that intake. I run a 14x3 drop base element with a .5" spacer. My hood closes but it is close. I am only running the spacer because I have the drop base air cleaner and it did not clear the distributor. I have enough room to go with a flat base if I wanted.

I've got the Edelbrock intake with a 14X3 1" drop base open element with the spacer ring. I have about a 1/2"-1" gap between my lid and the hood insulation.
