the reason i ask is one of my friends has a gm 350 HO that he has had in his garage for a week now, he wants to swap it out with his lo3. he thought he might want to put this MPI system on it. would it be a bad idea then?..

acctually, for a vortec 350 tbi swap with the MPI system, the system is only around a grand, but it you wanted to spend big money you could buy the whole system which includes the ecu, wiring harness fuel pump, filter, interchangable computer chips, and some other stuff, for about $2300. i was thinking that would go good with his 350 crate, but its too much money and bs to rip out the stock computer and wiring harness and swap in the edelbrock MPI system. thats just me though

a 670cfm tb being a restriction is more of an old wives tail than anything.
that is plenty of air to go well past teh 500hp mark with proper tuning, if anyoen doesn't believe me look at what your local dirt track guys are doin in teh restricted small block classes. most fo them run a 500-600cfm carbs and make well over 400hp while twisting past 7000rpm all night long.
the only real restriction of the stock tbi system was actually mentioned already, the stock computers run out of tables to deal with the rpm. unless you plan to run your engine to 6500 or so tha treally isn't an issue.
the multipoint set ups are not too bad overall. but the gain vs expense doesn't work out too good.
